Exploring wine through tasting, journalism, education and international judging.
Michalis Georgiou is a wine journalist, international judge, educator, and wine business professional whose work explores wine not only as a product, but as an expression of culture, place, memory, and human experience.
With an academic background that brings together Wine Business and Philosophy, his approach to wine moves naturally between the analytical and the sensory. He is interested not only in how a wine is made, positioned, or evaluated, but also in what it communicates: the identity of a place, the intentions of the people behind it, and the emotions and memories it can awaken in those who experience it.
As the only Cyprus-based member of the Circle of Wine Writers, an international community of respected wine communicators, Michalis brings a broad perspective to his writing, teaching, judging, and consulting. His experience ranges from blind tasting at major international wine competitions to wine education, sensory analysis, wine tourism, branding, and strategic development.
Holding an MBA in Wine Business, he combines commercial and strategic thinking with a deeper interest in the philosophy and aesthetics of taste. For him, understanding wine requires more than technical knowledge. It requires curiosity, observation, sensitivity, and the willingness to look beyond what is immediately present in the glass.
His philosophy is that wine exists at the intersection of nature, human creativity, culture, and perception. Learning about wine therefore becomes more than learning varieties, regions, and tasting techniques; it becomes a way of understanding places, people, and ultimately the way we experience the world.
Competitions judged, regions studied, and wine communities served across Europe and beyond.
